Good day to all. Hope everyone is settling into the month of December. The Holidays are upon us with the hustle and bustle and chaos.
We decided this year to forgo all the Christmas parties and such and just focus on family this year and try to keep things simple and small with the baby and my and Tim's immediate families.

Well, my holidays haven't gotten off to a great start, but I've got a whole month to make up for it, I suppose! Starbucks has their Cranberry Bliss bar back, so that helps! ;)
Eh, just thought I'd throw this out there. TC apparently gave some interview and was asked about Nik going "dark.":
"I don't really call it dark. I just call it somebody trying to make the audience under impossible circumstances actually care for these 2 and that's a challenge for me because it's really out of character for Nikolas Cassadine to go off and do something like this given how loyal and honest he's been in the 12-15 year run we've had with this character, so this is a big challenge for me given that everything he's done and how terrible and awful and dishonest it is, it just feels right. "

Tyler's comments don't even phase me anymore. I think he's an egotistical prick like most actors and doesn't have a clue. Whatever. I am not watching until the 22 of Dec which is when Chad shows up and I assume Natty's last day. Then I am done for good once and for all.
I thought the comments about Greg were interesting. It's kind of nice that they are friends and work out together but his comments about acting. You never know when you'll wake up and not have a job. It's the business and if you can't handle it, then you need to do something else. Wonder if he'd feel that way if it was happening to himself.
Somehow he ALWAYS manages to confuse me. I feel like I'm missing something everytime I read his comments.
It's out of character for Nikolas to sleep around with his brother's wife, but it feels "right" to TC and BTW, his character is not going dark, he's just trying to make the audience care about the story.

And while at some point in the past, I would have agreed that this sort of behavior is "out of character" for Nikolas, I can't say that anymore. His track record more than backs up what a selfish dick-centric waste of space he has become.
I reference '03 and '04 for the Nikolas that was made of sexy awesome. He's totally a different character now.
So enjoy that challenge, Tyler. I mean, why should you want your character to have soul and integrity. That's sooo blase and stale.

The only thing I read about the interview that totally pissed me off was how he said he's not been invested in a story on this show like he is with this one in a long time. How nice for Natalia to have to have worked with someone who didn't seem to give a fuck or even Claire Coffee. I am guessing the last story he was invested in was the tumor story and that was only for the first couple of months when the focus was all on the rage part of it. Once Emily died, so did the airtime for the story and his role diminished.
I can't tell you what a selfish prick I find him to be. But I also feel that way about Steve Burton and his comments about Stuart Damon and everyone at GH says what a great guy Steve is.

It's been more than obvious that TC has phoned it in in recent years. He only shows up if it's something HE wants to show up for. It's one of the things that's been so frustrating over the years - and ultimately why we probably never got Emily/NEm back. The last time he seemed invested in NEm was when she was set to leave and he probably figured it was the last hurrah, so what the hell. I'm not even really angry about it any more - but I do blame him (as well as the writers) for "Rebecca" instead of Emily and Rebecca's failure and ultimately for not supporting Natalia or NEm when he could have. It's probably irrational - but whatever. He and I just have different desires for the show and for the characters. He thinks Niz is awesome, and I think NEm were - and worth fighting for. *shrug* It's just different strokes. But I can't support him anymore. Too much water.
It's snowing here in Houston,Texas today now it feels like the holidays...So exciting to see the nieces and nephew faces..
I barely watch GH anymore but I saw the end of yesterday's episode I hate that Becca is trying to get Nik back after he treated her like crap. But I have a feeling it's going to be fun watching Natalia be a bad girl for a few weeks before she leaves, in my opinion she should have been doing this anyways.
There are new rumors about Chad's character that he's not a dead person and that Nik and Liz will be shocked when they see him. So I'm guessing Becca doesn't die which means at this point anything is possible.
I miss the Parapet but thanks Kate for giving us a new place to give our thoughts and opinions. I wish I could come on here as much as I did on the Parapet but I'm trying..

I've come full circle in that I don't want NEm, ever again. They had their moments, and I loved them dearly, but if there's ever a chance that Emily would come back to this show, she needs to be with someone else. An actor who actually would care about what he's doing and be present in it. Tyler obviously doesn't care, and why make Natalia suffer for his indifference? I want Emily, but I don't want NEm.
I prefer Natalia off the show and while I am not happy about the circumstances, I am happy she's leaving. Why as a fan would I want her working somewhere that values her for only one thing. I am more than confident she could have worked in another pairing. It wasn't in the cards so be it. Even if she does something completely different outside of acting, she'll be tons better off than she was on GH. And Tyler. More power to him. The thing with him is he is a better actor so why is it that he coasts his performances. I don't get it but whatever. He like MB or SBu won't be fired for their lackluster performances. This show would rather let real talents like Rick Hearst and Stephan Nichols and Stuart Damon go then the performers who truly are not giving forth the effort.
They never let Natty try anything else. Well, unless you count Sonny. But that was never going to last. No pairing with Sonny lasts. I mean, they never let her have anything lasting with any other actor. Stupidly, I always wanted NEm, but I would take almost anything else for her at this point. And gladly. It's a shame the show didn't even try. I mean, fine. Tyler and and Natty are over doing NEm. TyTy can't get interested in it anymore and he likes his skeevy new material with RH. Okay. But why not let Natty move on to other things? Why not have HER be the new obstical in Scrubs rather than some newbie? Why not let her mess around with JJ's Lucky? How about Jax? Or Dante? Or Ethan? There were a lot of possibilities. Not the least of which would have been to make her really be (an altered, damaged) Emily who can't forgive Nik and Liz and then have NEm just fade away permanently. I don't get the whole "pairing with Nikolas or die" mentality when it comes to Natalia. I loved them together, but I didn't love them at any cost. And I definitely do not love the fact that Tyler is so openly indifferent to the pairing. I'm over it. I hate that they brought her back and made me nearly as indifferent as he is. Bastards. And yet, even after all that's been done - I want her to be Emily. Damn it. I want her to be Emily, beautiful and alive, and to ride off into the sunset never to be seen again. Nik can stay poetically stuck in the greasy hamster wheel that is GH's fabulous NIZ. It's only fair at this point.
Well apparently she's gone because Rebecca is a flop(probably true) and because Natalia is the worst actress on GH. Not that it was a bad story or not that the writing for the character was inconsistant or not that they converted her into Emily but because Natalia is a terrible terrible actress. I'd love to know what the excuse for Sarah Brown was because she apparently is an acting goddess.
Diana sweety sit tight. Terrible actress. Well she can join all the others. People critcize her like GH has a plethera of acting talent. The only ones I see putting forth any effort are the newbies. Maurice, Steve, Tyler, Ingo, gave up long ago and don't get me started on Rick Hearst. He outacted every male on that show for all the years he was on it. I find all the female characters completely distasteful. There is no heartfelt female or moral center on this show anymore with no Georgie, Emily or Laura on canvas. Alexis is probably the only woman on this show that has any appeal and she's treated as an after thought for the most part.
No one on any SOAP message board would knows a damn thing about acting talent. They hate on a character and it translates to the actor playing them. As if it's not transparent. And while i hate most of the female characters, the actors are the weakest link on GH. Maybe JJ can elevate them.
OK..I am pissed and I gotta vent so please hang in there with me.
I posted a thought that I had about Natalia on a board that I have been a member for a long time. One of the admins of that board got really crappy with me.
I said that Natalia deserved better than what she is getting, that's all, just what I was feeling at the time.
She even went as far as say that it was not as if Naty walked in on Tyler and Becky kissing. WTF...its a show, that thought never entered my mind. I was making a statement as a Natalia fan thats all.
I can never get over how this people try and "rule" this board. I have a little secret to let these dumb-ass's in on.....

Cheryl sweety it's ok. When you goto the soap boards or even personal actor run boards, it's amazing to me to watch some of the heated discussions as if each poster KNOWS better or has more insight. People are fans of certain actors and characters and nothing changes that. It gives no one any more insight into an actor or character than anyone else and it's not different than being a fan of a sports figure or big name entertainer. If your a fan your fave seems to do no wrong and god forbid anyone else criticizes.
Fandom does odd things to people. I suppose I am guilty of it also at times. I suppose some here would accuse The Paraphet or this blog of being a Natalia fansite. And maybe we all do favor her more. So fucking what. I happen to think TC is and always has been the more talented of the 2 which is why his lackluster performance on the show especially with her over the last few years is disappointing. You get paid to do a job and your job is not to pick and choose when to bring it on. While yeah Natalia is the weaker actor, I never find her not trying to give it her all. I happen to agree with you. I think Natalia has been treated like dog crap. They made no effort with her nor did Tyler after maybe the first month. And that's on the show and maybe Tyler to a lessor degree.
I'm not going to watch until Chad comes back and then I'm officially done with GH for good. I'd love her last scenes to be as Emily and walking away for good. I don't honestly care about her ending up with Nikolas. Like Lori, let beautiful Emily walk away alive with Zander and never be seen again. I'm fine with that. That releases both actors from the burden once and for all, especially TC.
GH has destroyed all the good parts of the show anyway. Luke and Laura that great destiny couple, if they can destroy that nothing is off limits and they have proven that.
Maybe Natalia was the weaker actor, but at least she always TRIED. Ty-Ty these days looks like he's calculating his paycheck to know what size new TV he can get for Christmas. She gave it her all and no one can accuse her otherwise. And for her hard work and loyalty, she got fired. GH is a fiery piss hole of crap.
And Diane, a-freakin'-men. I NEVER got the hype over Sarah Brown, and if she deserved the twelve thousand Emmys she got, then by crackey Natty certainly deserved hers, just for putting up with Tyler's petulant ass, IMO.
And Cheryl, *hugs*. I've given up on figuring out the motivations of some other fansites, and I've totally lost any kind of neutrality when it comes to anything about this show. I'm a Natty fan, and I REALLY don't like Tyler these days, and I'm not making an excuses for it. It is what it is. You no likey? Take it somewhere else.

The Parapet was nearly always seen as anti-Tyler by the Tyler FF's. I think that's been unfair - but whatever. I don't know if I'd ever go so far as to say I was anti-Tyler, but lets just say I wasn't a fan in the sense that I wasn't "following" him. I never "followed" Natty, either, though. I was interested in NEM (which is why the Parapet was a NEM baord)and sometimes the actors pissed me off with things they did or said. And I'll be frank - Tyler wins the prize for accomplishing that more often. But I never... NEVER felt like I was unfair in my bitching. I gave it to both sides when I felt it was deserved. I said whatever I felt at the time. I suppose if I had it to do over again, and I was moderating a board in the future I would be far less opinionated in posts and try to stay above the fray more. But what's done is done.
And now, I have to say in all honesty that while people may find Natty to be the weaker actress, I don't think it's by much. When I think back to Tyler's butchering of an English accent in that Pirate garb, or bleaching his hair out and trying most unsuccessfully to be "Connor" with the nasy southern accent (I guess that was it), I am left rather speechless at the badness. And all that doesn't even begin to touch on the material that he didn't even seem to TRY in.
Yes, there were moments of sheer greatness (i.e. freighter scenes), but then, Natty had those moments, too. And the difference is that she almost never gets credit for it. They were more understated than his. The hotel fire comes to mind. The scene following that with Jason and also when she believed Nikolas to be dead. I recall her curled up in his chair with his sweater in her arms breathing his scent in and crying quietly for him. How about when Zander was shot and killed. She was brilliant. Or when she slapped Mary and let her have it. Or how about when she was raped. And that recovery that was almost painful to watch - in the way that it should have been. Yeah, Tyler gets all the online aknowledgement for being such a fabulous actor, but people are too quick to overlook his acting partner of 6 FREAKING years who quietly stood by his side and kicked ass sans the *look at meeee* screaming and foaming at the mouth and throwing shit and the long talks to herself. She did it with style and grace and that's why I still adore her all this time later.
I'm sorry the show won't write for classy women anymore. It's a shame that there is no place on the GH canvas for Natalia's Emily in 2009. It's a shame the show never saw her long term value. It's also a shame that her acting partner apparently never saw her value, either.
Yeah, still a little bitter. Still a lot sad. But I'm working on it.
I guess, no I take that back, I know my biggest problem is with the "fair weather" fans. They read Tyler's board and see what he wants and then they are all about that. Give me a break!
This Niz story is going to burn out soon. LL2 are endgame, thats way the brought back JJ.

Well it is an actor/character board. So I'd expect most of them to support the actor/character before anything.
As far as LL2 ending up together, I don't see it. I think this is the final nail in the coffin. i think JJ is back so that Liz could be the cause this time around. They would never have done this with Greg.
And I no longer think GH has destiny couples. I used to think Sonny/Carly, Lucky/Liz, Nikolas/Emily, were all goto or destiny couples. But the show doesn't believe in that. I don't know why. Every other soap has or has had them and still do. I still believe to this day Sharon and Nick on YR are destiny regardless of where they have been the past few years as are Victor and Nikki.
It is what it is. As for my comments about the various boards. I never meant to criticize and I never felt and of the mods at The Parapet had their preferences. I though you folks were always fair. I was perhaps speaking of my own preferences I guess.
And yeah it's sad GH can't and won't write for classy women. I miss that and Emily was the last of that breed I think. Georgie was another one and see how those 2 are off the canvas. Someone at GH felt that Rebecca would be a hit because she fit the mold of all the other sluts on the show. Well maybe viewers like the grace and class that Emily and Georgie brought to the canvas. It brought balance and that no longer exists. All the women barring Robin maybe fit that mold now. Not a very diverse canvas.
And off topic, why is it that the great Meryl Streep at the age of 60 fecking years old is a bigger hit in films then she's ever been. And it's strong females. Maybe women are finally tiring of being portrayed and either stupid blonde D sup airheads or mousy spinsters,

I wasn't thinking that you were being critical of the parapet, Kate. Not at all. I was just talking to talk, I guess. It was a general criticism early on with certain people and one of the reasons why we made the board private.
I guess you're right, GH doesn't do destiny couples any more. I still feel like LL2 has more of a chance here than Niz, though. They're the ultimate engame. Niz are NOT star crossed lovers - they're lying cheaters who are destroying lives. That's not very rootable.
